Lawrence v. Texas
The Supreme Court holds that a Texas statute criminalizing same-sex conduct is unconstitutional. Several years later in 2008, the California Supreme Court in In re Marriage Cases holds that sexual orientation is a protected class and laws prohibiting same-sex marriage are unconstitutional. In 2015 the Supreme Court held in Obergefell v. Hodges that same-sex couples have the fundamental right to get married. 15JUN
